We were dropped off in the middle of nowhere and for four hours hiked a very rugged trail above steep cliffs. We did not have snacks with us because we did not want to attract local baboons. After three hours of ups and downs I was done but had to keep going. My toes started acting up, too. Needless to say, I brought up the rear. The kids were like Billy Goats and loved the experience. At 2 PM we finally had our lunch, a delicious picnic of breads, cheese, fruits, banana bread, chips, guava juice and more. That was very welcome as Jeff and I had had breakfast at 6:30 this morning.
Back at the hotel we had a short nap and feel much better. On the hike we walked through groves of yellow protea. We were told there are over 100 varieties of protea near the Cape.
Wow! What a glorious day, again. But we missed the baboons..................!
Sounds gruelling but really fun and beautiful ...but no pictures....Jeff?..
