Silver Mine Dam Hike
Today we did a 4 1/2 hour hike up a mountain and through the lush fynbos. We saw lots of different flowers like protea, geranium, heather. The fynbos is more biologically diverse than the rainforest. It has World Heritage protection. Once we got to the top we were treated to spectacular views of distant beaches and mountains. We had a picnic lunch in one of these spots. Carolyn, Jackson and Caitlyn were troopers in climbing even higher to get to a cave called the elephant's eye. On the way back the kids and John had a swim in a lake with so much tannins in it that it looked like tea.
